One of the most important things that you can do as a Field Representative is to network with local conservative organizations.
After meeting with college students in the field during the day to discuss an activism project for the weekend, I made my way to the local Rhode Island Republican Assembly Meeting. Republican Assembly's are a nationwide organization comprised of the most conservative Republicans, and have a presence in every state in the country.
As Leadership Institute President Morton Blackwell states in his Laws of the Public Policy Process , "Sound ideology is sound policy." Fashioning themselves as the Republican Wing of the Republican Party, this organization is a great place to meet people who are conservatives first and foremost, and do not compromise on their views.
It is integral that as an activist you introduce yourself, and your student groups to other conservative organizations within the area. This will pay dividends in a variety of ways.
You may find a willing base of donors within the organization who wish to help a conservative club on a college campus. They also may have media contacts, and will help spread the word about events your group is hosting. There also may be sympathetic attorneys within the group, who can offer free legal work if there is a problem with your school's administration.
